Directors of Pilbara Airlines announced that Mr Jonathon Rhys Evans and Mr Edward Turner have been appointed to the board of directors.
Mr Evans, by qualification, is an aerospace engineer (BEng(Hons) Aerospace Engineering from the UK), and is principal of a corporate aircraft management company in Singapore. Mr Evans has 25 years of experience in the aviation industry, working with major airframe OEM’s in engineering, sales and management within Asia, the UK and the USA as well as boutique airline start-ups.
Separate to the aircraft management entity, Mr Evans provides consultancy and brokerage services for the acquisition and disposal of corporate aircraft and has an aviation software business.
Mr Ed Turner was appointed a Director and also company secretary for Pilbara Airlines.
Mr Turner is a qualified accountant FCPA, with over 30 years of experience in the aviation industry.
Prior to that, Mr Turner worked for international mining and oil and gas companies in accounting positions and as General Manager of a financial institution which he established and which has become one of Australia’s small regional banks.
In recent years, Mr Turner set up a number of airline operations in Asia, obtained a number of logistics contracts, including IMAX films, BBC Natural History and Baulderstone Hornibrook detention centre contract on Christmas Island which was carried out using leased Airbus A320 aircraft from Silk Air. He then relocated to Singapore for 10 years, creating a small regional airline operation in conjunction with Silk Air, part of the Singapore Airlines Group. Mr Turner sold his interest in that airline in 2016, and returned to Perth in aviation consulting tasks.
