Director Mr Khoi Vo of Pilbara Airlines Pty Ltd announced the airline has obtained an international and domestic airline licence (AOC) with the purchase of the shares in the AOC holding company Air Timor (Australia Pty Ltd). Following the decision by the company to operate Airbus A320 aircraft, the AOC will require to be varied to include this aircraft type.
Under Australian Civil Aviation laws and regulations, AOCs are type rated and each aircraft type has to be approved by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) and included in the AOC. Director Khoi Vo said the airline will be immediately engaging with CASA to determine the requirements to vary the AOC. This will require Pilbara Airlines management to work with senior CASA management over the next 6 months to obtain approval to operate Airbus A320 aircraft on international and domestic routes.
Mr Vo said Pilbara Airlines will apply to change the name of the AOC company to Pilbara Airlines (AOC) Pty Ltd.
